Thoughts reflect the inner essence of a person

It is the belief that thoughts show the paths that the inner self follows, just as the eyes are called the mirror of the soul. It is also the belief that everything that comes to mind reflects your true thoughts and experiences, no matter how much you resist and claim otherwise. Thus, obsessive thoughts may be communicating something special, probably hidden, some important truth about you as a person.

Fact: everyone has occasional strange, aggressive, and even crazy thoughts. If every thought was about character, 90 % of people could be described as strange, aggressive, or crazy, because about the same number of people admit that they have obsessive thoughts that they themselves consider strange, aggressive, frightening, or crazy. Think also about some of the horror movies and TV shows that have become so popular recently. You may not be able to watch them because they cause too much fear. However, keep in mind that their disgusting, strange, aggressive and crazy scenarios are created by mentally healthy creative people. They just want to attract the attention of the audience.

One of the supposed conclusions from this myth is that strange or absurd thoughts can indicate a loss of control over one’s own consciousness or even a mental disorder. Another false conclusion is that if you have obsessive disgusting thoughts, it may mean that you are a pervert or a disgusting person.

People with unwanted aggressive or violent thoughts may fear that they are violent or angry, even though they know nothing about these emotions, and that it is in these thoughts that their true feelings are expressed. Not only can they believe that they are inherently terrible, but they also feel the added burden of having to constantly control such thoughts.

Everyone periodically has unconscious thoughts, and it is interesting to see exactly how these mental processes occur. But you should not believe the idea that the appearance of obsessive thoughts and images reveals the underlying truth, and that thoughts reveal motives, feelings, and intentions that have deep meaning, or contain messages that need to be carefully considered if they differ from the conscious thoughts, feelings, and intentions.
